SCIENCE at GFAA

This week we used our senses to explore HEAT. We learned that there are many sources of heat and that heat feels warm. We increased our basic understanding of heat energy.
We also recorded and organized data and our observations using pictures.

We made a snowman out of frozen water balloons.
We placed it in an electric skillet which was our source of heat.
We turned the skillet on and used our sense of observation.

We watched what happens when heat was added to matter. Especially matter made from frozen water! We saw it change from a solid snowman to liquid and then it started changing to a gas called steam!
After our observation, we recorded our data into our Science Journal.

College Day!!

Once a month we celebrate COLLEGE DAY! It is not too early to start talking to your child about what college they want to attend and what they want to be when they grow up.
It will probably change many time between now and Senior Year, but that's OK!!
Here are some GFAA Kindergartners sporting their college shirts.

Science Show and Tell

SCIENCE SHOW-N-TELL
Thursday, October 4

In Science, we are learning to use our senses to describe physical properties. This week, we will be exploring texture. It is important for students to have real experiences rather than just talking about them or looking at pictures. Providing this real experience at home and then sharing it with their classmates at school will help them make better connections. Texture is an observable property that can be used to describe how something feels. For show-n-tell, your child may bring something(s) that are:
·       Rough
·       Smooth
·       Bumpy
·       Hard
·       Soft
·       Fluffy
·       Ridged
·       Grainy
·       Powdery
·       Satiny
·       Scratchy
Help your child be prepared to share the texture of the object they bring from home. If you have any questions, let me know.
