Focus Letter Tt

Next week, GFAA Kindergarten will be focusing on the letter Tt. Here are some ideas of things you can do at home.
  • Make a list of as many words as you can that begin with the letter Tt.
  • Scavenger Hunt: Look through your home for things that begin with Tt. For example: spinning Top; teddy bear; tiger, turkey or turtle stuffed animals; tape player; telescope; tractor; train; treasure chest; truck; Tyrannosaurus Rex; tablecloth; tambourine; tape; teapot; telephone; television; tennis racket; ticket; toothbrush; tray; tree; triangle; tricycle; T-shirt; toothpicks; tulips;toolbox.
  • Play Tic-tac-toe.
  • Have a snack of "Tootsie Rolls”; “Trix” cereal; “Twizzlers”; “Triscuits”; tomatoes.
  • Read books and learn about trains. Take a trip on the Dart Train.
  • Create “Tissue Triangle Art”. Cut triangles out of different colors of tissue paper. Set out brushes and diluted glue; Take a piece of wax paper. Brush glue on the wax paper and place the triangles on top of the glue. Encourage them to work on small areas at a time and to overlap their triangles to create new colors. For a shiny effect, brush more glue over the papers when they have finished. Attach construction paper frames. Then punch a hole in one corner of each frame and hang the papers near a window.
  • Timer Game: Place several items (perhaps Tt items) on the floor next to a bag or box. Have the child name each of the items. Then have the child close their eyes while you hide one item in the bag or box. When they open their eyes, set a kitchen timer for the desired number of seconds and have the child try to guess which item you have hidden before the timer rings.
  • Use colored toothpicks to practice sorting, making patterns or creating 2 dimensional shapes like, triangles, squares, and rectangles.
  • Have a Tea Party with your child.
  • Play “Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear”. Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Turn around. Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch the ground. Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, stand tall now. Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, take a bow. Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch your nose. Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, tap your toes. Think of some more things that Teddy Bear can do!
  • Paint with old toothbrushes.
  • Go to the park and play on a teeter-totter.
  • Make a terrarium.
  • Talk about favorite TV programs
  • Walk on tiptoe.
  • Have Tuna Sandwiches for dinner and toast for breakfast.
Have a TERRIFIC time.
